Dad

Today would have been my dad’s 92nd birthday.

This picture was taken in 1947 in Malta.

He had some lovely tattoos including a rosette with my name in it. He was a work of art, my dad.

  1. What a lovely picture, Teresa. And very touching about the tattoo.
I'm still lucky enough to have my dad, though he's not as well as he was. We should never take them for granted, should we?

  6. I lost my dad when I was 18, Bernadette and there isn't a day goes by that I don't think about him and wish I hadn't taken him for granted.

I bet your dad was full of tales, Elizabeth, as sailors so often are.

    Yes he was, Lydia!

Thank you, Helen. It is only as I've got older and read the letters he wrote to my mum that I've realised quite how special he was.

That's true isn't it, Sue. As long as someone lives in our memory they never really die.
