My Big Night Out!

On Thursday my daughter took me out for the evening. We went to the Colchester Arts Centre and saw Julian Clary doing his warm up for his Lord of the Mince tour which starts later this year.

I couldn’t believe it when she said she’d got tickets and was going to take me!

He is gorgeous! We saw him before the show without his make up and he’s even better looking in the flesh – and much taller than I imagined.

The show was brilliant. I didn’t stop laughing!

I’ve loved him since his Joan Collins Fan Club days when he used to appear with Fanny the Wonderdog. I warmed to him even more after reading his autobiography A Young Man’s Passage.

And his novel Murder Most Fab is a very entertaining read. I’m looking forward to reading his next one Devil in Disguise.

He’s very talented and not in the least bit up himself like so many celebs of his (and my) generation.

And I’m still smiling when I think of him!

  4. He's very sharp-witted isn't he? I remember the days of Fanny the Wonderdog and couldn't believe how he got away with being so rude!

Glad you had a fun evening :o)

  5. I'm so glad you've found Lynne's book helpful, Kath. And I hope you enjoy Murder Most Fab - I'm sure you will!

Thanks Suzanne. My daughter has already booked up to go and see him again in London in November - but this time she's taking her husband!

Karen - he's very quick isn't he. And he adores dogs which is always a plus point with me.

  7. I am going to show off a little bit here.

I have a very dear friend who used to be one of Julian's backing singers (she was one of the Three Courgettes, for those of you interested in trivia), and through spending time with her I have not only met the gorgeous Mr Clary a couple of times (and yes, he is lovely, completely charming, and not at all "up himself"); but I also, once, accompanied my friend as she walked Fanny the Wonderdog in Hyde Park. I can report that she was very well-behaved, very clever, and very, very fast. Fanny, that is, and not my friend, who was all but that last one.

  8. She's a lovely girl, Olivia - great at timing her surprises!

Jane - what can I say? You lucky lucky girl - meeting Julian AND Fanny. Thank you for sharing that - of course you should show off. If I'd met him and walked his dog I'd be shouting it from the rooftops!
