March Sunshine!

Harley has started going out in the garden with Fizz now. Nerve wracking, but she’s already bagsed herself a spot in the sun and she’s chased off a cat three times her size! She’s even found herself a favourite spot to use as a loo which I’m delighted about. All my previous cats have come inside to use the litter tray.

We’ve had a worrying couple of weeks with Oakley, my daughter’s dog. My son in law had to rush him to the vet late one night when he kept falling over. His eyes were going crazy too, jerking from side to side at great speed and his head was tilted over to one side. He’s always been in such good health, this all came as a shock.

This is one of my favourite photos of him, taken a few years ago.

It is vestibular disease which is rather like a stroke, although if you’ve ever had labyrinthitis, it’s more like that.

He’s still so eager to see you and sometimes falls over in his hurry to get to you to say hello.

But yesterday he climbed up on the sofa, then went upstairs! And today when I saw him, his head is almost straight again. So after many tears – feeling hopeful!

No complaints about the March weather so far! It’s been rather lovely hasn’t it? The daffs are out, the birds are singing and despite going outside and wearing themselves out my feline alarm clocks are still waking me up at 5am.

It's all right for some isn't it!?

  1. Poor Oakley, but the signs for a speedy recovery really look hopeful, Teresa. Harley and Fizz are up at five every morning? Oh bless them.Rx

  2. This weather is really lovely - makes you want to get up and go! Hope Oakley makes a full recovery. It makes it worse because you can't explain to Oakley what's wrong with him. I imagine Harley and Fizz scooting around true to their names!

    1. Yes, he must have wondered what had happened, poor old thing. Those girls are scooting round the garden now that the fog has cleared - having a great time x

  5. Bonnie and Bobbie have loved playing outside since the nice weather. Bob runs out through the cat flap and then Bon barks to be let out to join him. Hope Oakley's ok.

    1. It's lovely that Bonnie and Bobbie play together, Wendy. I had a pup once that went through the cat flap and took the whole thing with him and ran round the garden wearing it! I got a story out of that :-) x

  6. The weather has been lovely, hasn't it? I've spent more time on my outdoor plot than the keyboard created type this week.

  8. The weather has been much better- so good today I only needed a jacket rather than my coat.

And saw a wonderful display of daffodils in the sunshine too.

Hope Oakly continues to progress in a postive direction.

  9. Oakley is gorgeous and I hope he continues to recover well. Those symptoms are frightening and come as such a shock. We have a cat who had the jerking eyes and tilted head and we thought it was a stroke at first. It turned out to be an inner ear problem and the vet managed to treat it.

I'm glad Harley is having a lovely time exploring outside. March is certainly bringing us swiftly into Spring. x

    1. I'm glad the vet could treat your cat, Joanna. Oakley is on tablets which seem to be helping.

Yes, even if we do get a cold spell, we can at least see Spring now x

  11. Oakley looks like the Managing Director there on his chair. As if he wants to proof read and check there's a dog in every story you send out Teresa.....xx
