Love and Sunshine

Love and Sunshine
Oh the agony of the first day of the month back in those horrible school days, going through the whole morning being pinched and punched and not being allowed to retaliate because of the no returns rule.

Then when I did get mine in first, they came back with, “A punch and a kick for being so quick and no returns.”

You soon learn though.

Much nicer to wish people love and sunshine on the first of the month and that is what I wish you.

Dusty is still getting the occasional cardboard box to chew to alleviate the boredom. He reduces them to tiny pieces as he will demonstrate.

Smaller

And leaves them scattered all over the floor for me to pick up later. My poor desk - I sit with my legs crossed (very unhealthy) and my foot pressed up against the leg. That's over thirty years of damage right there! The scratches round the bottom of the leg were caused by teeth... not mine!

And smaller

It’s four and a half weeks since his last operation. He’s on painkillers as he still hops occasionally on that leg although he generally walks well on it. He has his first hydrotherapy appointment booked this month which will hopefully help.

I can’t help feeling pessimistic though. I certainly won’t be going to his follow up appointment in a couple of weeks thinking that he’s done well and all is as it should be like I did last time. I’m usually all for positive thinking, but on the other hand if you expect the worst anything better is a bonus.

Does positive thinking work for you?

  1. I like to think I'm a bottle half full type of person. I think it does help to see the positive side of things. So, everything will be fine Teresa and I hope you can begin with a very happy birthday for tomorrow.

    1. I think half full people are much easier to be around, Maggie - and I thank you for your positive comment :-) Thank you for the birthday wishes too xx

    2. A bottle half full is very optimistic - most people just imagine half a glass!

  2. I prefer a full glass to a half empty one ;) So what I do is to focus on a prior appointment and visualise that all will be well and it generally works.
    Happy Birthday to you

    1. Full glasses are the best closely followed by empty ones ready to be refilled :-) I think I will give myself a good talking to and start visualising a happy outcome. Thank you for the birthday greetings :-) xx

  3. I'm generally positive so I'm sending positive vibes, Teresa! And thank you for the love and sunshine wishes - it was raining and windy here this morning and is now lovely and sunny so it's worked.

  4. I try to be optimistic without getting my hopes up too much - if that's not a contradiction! I hope things will go well, but realise they might not.

  5. I think in exactly the same way as Patsy - I like to be hopeful but realistic. Hoping all goes well, Teresa X

    1. Thanks, Wendy. I do tend to go to extremes - either wildly optimistic or grimly pessimistic! Really need to find that balance :-) xx

  6. I'm a positive thinker and my husband is the opposite so we generally balance each other out.

I'm so glad Dusty is on the mend - I love that first picture of him with the cardboard in his mouth! Max, my Miniature Schnauzer, loved nothing better than to rip up cardboard and leave a mess all over the floor.

  7. Thanks, Debs - he has a tiny piece of cardboard in the second picture. He reduces it to crumbs!
My husband tends to be the steadily optimistic one and he's almost always right when I'm in a needless flap about something :-) xx

  8. Definitely half bottle full girl here! That's so much better than half glass, love it!

Sending all good, positive vibes for Dusty restored to good health once more.

Hope you are having a wonderful birthday :-) xx

  9. Thank you, Teresa, for the lovely, kind wishes and I send you lots of love and sunshine too. These pictures are gorgeous and Dusty looks really happy.
I am - often quite annoyingly - optimistic almost all the time, which can lead to disappointment quite often, but I can't help myself! It is somewhat offset by Hubby's more realistic and measured approach.

Wishing Dusty all the very best with his continuing recovery and looking forward to knowing how the hydrotherapy goes. xxx

    1. Thank you, Joanna. I think it's lovely that you're the optimistic one. It often seems to be the way in relationships doesn't it, one balances out the other. I'll see if I can get a photo of him in the hydrotherapy pool - my phone only takes selfies so I'll have to remember to take my camera along xx

  10. Hi Teresa,

Yes, it actually is me leaving a comment. I've been in hiding during that alphabet challenge thing so many of them do!

Anyway, I'm always finding the positive aspects to what can seem like negative situations. Realistic positive anticipation that all will be okay.

Hugs to you and Dusty, my lovely friend.

    Gary :) x
