Talking of Old Photos...

A few years ago I found my old camera and it still had a film in it. I must have discarded it when a new camera came along – how cruel!

Not holding out much hope, I had the film developed. These are a couple of photos from that film taken at a heavy horse centre which may have been in Dedham, but honestly it was so long ago I can’t remember.

I’m the one in the dreadful blue jumpsuit. It was made of quite thick corduroy and – no honestly, it’s true – I wasn’t that plump, it was thick fabric! I was quite a slim thing in those days. I think I was about 16 or 17.

I like the way something has caught my sister's attention and she is unaware the photo is being taken.

I’m sure the sky wasn’t really that colour, but that is the only real sign of the film deteriorating.

The horses, of course, were lovely!

  1. what wonderful pictures to find and for them to be from so long ago too. I have some old negatives which I keep promising myself I will go through. I bought myself a gadget which you can load them up onto your computer to print them out as photographs but I have really had the time to look at it or try it out. I have lots of negitives which my parents had when we were children so who know what is on them.

  2. Wow, Jarmara you're in for a treat. I had no photos of me as a baby, but I did have some negatives and my son did that turning-them-into-prints thing - it was wonderful! So it wasn't just my parents who had negatives but no photos to go with them then :-) x

  3. How fashions change! I have some perfectly dreadful photos of me back in the 70's (surely the worst ever decade for fashion?).
Couldn't agree more about horses. Such beautiful animals.

  4. I remember the 70s as being so bright and colourful, Gail. I loved it and there are times I'm afraid when I do hanker after 70s fashion - but then reality hits and I think perhaps it is the age I was then that I hanker after more than the clothes I wore x

  9. What a wonderful discovery. I hope our digital world isn't moving too fast. We could potentially lose so much more.

  14. I love the fact you didn't know what was on the film - what a great flash from the past (even the jumpsuit)!

  17. A friend and I were talking about that today, Maggie. With everything being stored electronically, we could so easily lose so much! Worrying thought. Hope your blog starts behaving as it should soon x

    Thank you, Liz :-) x

Very true, Lydia - I'm sure we've had hotter summers since, but that one really does stick in the mind x

Huge weren't they, Joanne and I had friends who used to put a triangle of fabric in theirs to make them even bigger x

It was rather exciting, Rosemary x

    Thanks, Adam x

Pictures like that do tend to bring on a bout of nostalgia, Maria - sigh, happy days x

I know, Diane - horses with flares, trust Patsy :-) x
