Poppy - my little flower

This is Poppy – my daughter’s dog and Dusty’s best friend. They haven’t been allowed to see each other since his first operation last November. It’s been hard on both of them and I can’t wait until he’s healed up enough so they can play together again. The trouble is they go crazy when they see each other and play so rough, we can’t risk it just yet. It’s all part of the rules, no running, no jumping – and no playing with his mates.

Dusty is so sensitive to her name that when I talk about her, I have to refer to her as my little flower. I daren't say her name and raise his hopes that she  might be coming to see him.

I saw a very strange sight this week, an extremely tall man with a frighteningly tiny head. It was only as I got closer I realised it was a man carrying a very small boy in a sling on his back. Maybe I need to get myself off to the optician.

Hasn’t there been a change in the weather? Just wonderful isn’t it? Certainly helps with the positive thinking!

Hope the sun is shining on you!

  1. Am feeling very Sorry for your dog, for it sounds to me that he has most likely lost something that is very precious in male terms ;-)
We had sunshine and a totally blue sky earlier, now it is 90% cloud with a southern breeze.
    Enjoy the day x

    1. Ah he still has all his precious bits and pieces :-) He's had a couple of leg operations since November so he's not allowed any rough and tumble - for now.
Hope you get the sunshine back :-) xx

  3. Oh, such a sad but happy post. If only you could explain to them! Dusty is very intelligent if she can react to Poppy's name. I had to laugh about the man with a small head. Yes, it's a beautiful day here too. I am a fair weather walker so it was good to get out this morning.

    1. It is sad isn't it - they are probably very worried about each other, but know nothing terrible has happened as they can still smell each other on us.
I did laugh to myself when I saw the man with the small head - with relief I think!
It's beautiful isn't it - the sort of weather that calls you out :-) xx

  4. Gosh what a reunion that will be! Worth waiting for I'm sure and will be so wonderful to see them playing together like old times.
Wonderful here today. It was a real fresh May Spring day - fields so green and lush, all the trees blossoming, the yellow rape in the fields. I too was so uplifted. And warm - it was warm and no sneaky nasty bitter wind! Also worth waiting for - long may it continue :-) xx

    1. It was so funny, I went from thinking we'd been invaded by pin-headed aliens to thinking how cute the little boy looked riding on his dad's back in a matter of moments :-) xx

  8. I'm sure Dusty will be overjoyed to see Poppy when they eventually get together, Teresa, and will probably tire each other out. :-)

Strange what we think we're seeing when it's really just an optical illusion.

  10. It's so sad to think of Poppy and Dusty missing each other and so sweet and moving that Dusty recognises her name and gets excited. I hope they can soon be reunited.
I can well understand your amazement at the possible sighting of a tall, small-headed man because I once drove past an ostrich, only to realise as I moved closer it was the back view of a cow. It's uncanny how alike the two sights are...or maybe I need the optician too...xxx

    1. That made me laugh, Joanna and I think the two things can look very alike. My husband kept talking about the ostriches he could see in a field near here and I tutted and said he was daft and from what I'd seen through the bushes, they were cows - then I saw them properly myself. Definitely ostriches :-) xx

  11. Hi Teresa,

Would be nice when Poppy and Dusty can perhaps play together sometime soon. Of course, minus any frantic activity by the pair of them.

I'll send you pair of my old spectacles :)

And yep, sunny and almost warm up here in Leek, Staffordshire.

    Enjoy the weekend, Teresa.

    Gary :) x

    1. Frantic activity is unavoidable with those two, Gary :-)
Thanks for the specs - mine are covered in scratches which don't help :-)
Hope you have a lovely weekend xx

  12. Aww, I hope they're reunited soon. I had to laugh at your extremely tall man with the frighteningly small head (I'm still chuckling now). I don't have specs (yet) but i could send you my magnifying glass that makes your eye look big, like Nana on the Royle family. Will that help? ;) xx

  14. The part about the man with a very small head made me smile. I was sure I was walking towards a man leaning on a gate as I tramped through the woods. Turned out to be a gatepost with a tree next to it. Saw a dinosaur once too...I am sure we have more interesting walks than other people! Hope you can say "Poppy" aloud soon. Dogs are so clever, ours can spell WALK :-)X

    1. Our eyes deceive us sometimes - I saw a hooded figure standing at the side of the road once and it turned out to be a road sign. Dogs have such a huge vocabulary - I'm very impressed yours can spell :-) xx
