I’ve just finished making my outfit for Halloween – now all I need is an
invite out somewhere. Hello… anyone..?
This is the fabric I used. I made a tunic from a pattern I
got free with Prima.
And this is what I shall be eating for my dinner tonight.
I saw it when we stopped off at Rookery Farm for some veg and I couldn’t
resist.
The purple colour is caused by an antioxidant, anthocyanin,
which is also present in red wine.
Just waiting for it to stop raining so I can take Mr Bones
out. Here he is next to my chair – raring to go as you can see, bless him.
I try and avoid fancy dress at all costs! A friend and I last night were remembering a fancy dress party she held where someone came in a canoe and someone else in a badger head! What the theme was, we couldn't remember.

ReplyDeleteI've heard of purple sprouting, but not purple cauliflower. Do you think it might turn a cheese sauce blue?

DeleteThere is something vaguely sinister about blue food. Years ago, my mother found a source of blue eggs ( chickens'). We kids refused to eat them!

DeleteI'd be interested to know if that cauliflower stays blue during the cooking process as the broccoli does not...if you steam it. ;-)
ReplyDeleteIt faded a lot, the water was bright purple. It didn't smell like cauliflower when it was cooking and it didn't taste like cauliflower. The only similarity was in the texture. And a 3 year old declared it delicious - which I suppose proves it didn't taste like a proper cauli :-) x
DeleteRed wine or cauliflower - I know which one I would rather have! I had to laugh on the blue eggs. I buy Cotswold Legbar eggs from Waitrose/Morrisons and they are blue - BUT they are the BEST eggs ever - the yold is the darkest I've ever seen. Caroline x p.s Mr Bones ain't silly is he?
