All Quiet

Isn’t it quiet here in Blogland? Perhaps it’s the call of the Olympics, or maybe it’s the sudden spell of warm weather.

It’s a bit like walking into a large room full of empty chairs. Where is everyone?

I’ve joined Twitter and I’m still getting to grips with it. I’ve looked for people I know and every so often I stumble across a familiar face and follow them. So if anyone is out there reading this and you see me wandering around looking lost, give me a shout.

I gave Indy a haircut this week with the electric trimmers and for the first time ever, he didn’t try to sneak off halfway through, so perhaps he was pleased to get rid of some of his wool. He even enjoyed his bath afterwards.

I’m going to leave this silent room to the shadows and close the door quietly on my way out – or as it’s so hot, perhaps I’ll leave it open.

Whatever you’re doing, I hope you’re enjoying the summer.

And I’ll leave you with a photo of Indy wearing his Night Vision Goggles.

  1. It is very hushed indeed, Teresa. I think everyone's wilting in the warmth or hiding from the rain or jetting away somewhere gorgeous. I've been getting up at 4am to write in the cool and peace before the family appears, so I keep falling asleep in the afternoons when I'm meant to be writing my blog or thinking of witty things for Twitter.

I love Indy's Night Vision Goggles!

  3. umm...what was I saying - editing cave...that should have been "which" and not "whis". Grr.

  4. I've recently joined Twitter too. People keep sending things with @ and # in and I have to use the Help facility to find out what's going on.

  5. Hi Teresa
It is quiet! I haven't been in blogland much lately, (feeling a bit guilty) but have just popped in to find it all rather quiet.
I love your photo of Indy, that is so cute, night vision, hehe.
    Glad he enjoyed his haircut!

  6. 4 am in summer is a lovely time to be up and about, Joanna - not that I'm up at that time very often. You must be feeling very inspired :-) x

I love the image of you in your editing cave, Caroline - and I didn't even notice the whis :-) x

Me too, Keith. It's a whole new language isn't it x

It's like everyone's gone on holiday isn't it, penandpaints :-) I think Indy was using those goggles to try to hypnotise me into giving him treats x

    2. Perfect! This has to be the first time I've ever been able to tell someone how to do something computer- related, so we can both feel proud!

  8. Hi Teresa, it's a combination of school holidays, mum's are busy with children, olympics, hot weather, everyon's in the garden. This is a good time for entering competitions, because hardly anyone will be trying.... xx

    1. I hadn't thought of it like that, Suzy - but you're right, probably an excellent time to enter comps! x

  10. It's too hot to think of anything sensible to say other than 'yes please' when offered an ice cold drink.

    1. Quite so, Patsy - I managed to put two identical comments on your blog. I think this unusual heat has addled my brain so I'm repeating myself, repeating myself x

  11. We've finally started to cool down here in Nebraska, USA, but we are still in a severe drought. Everything is brown and brittle. Depressing! I am very much looking forward to autumn!

    1. Hope you get some rain, Melissa. The weather has such a knock on effect on everything - perhaps because of the rain we don't seem to have as many wasps as usual here, but loads more mozzies - but everywhere looking quite lush! x

  12. LOL about pic of Indy wearing goggles - looks like he is straight out of a Stephen King novel. Talk about quiet - I'm all alone today and worked on two short story drafts this morning. One I had already started and the other just came out of thin air. Perhaps I should have quiet days more often.... very productive :-)

    1. It seems to have been a good weekend for writers, Diane - the muse has been kind! Indy has always been able to turn on the evils, but he's not of course, he's very sweet and cuddly :-) x

  13. I'm here! Well, when I'm not at work or decorating, anyway. Can't bear even to look at Twitter, as I know it would soon become another thing to swallow up precious time.

Gosh, spooky, Indy! Those eyes seem to be boring right into my soul!

    1. I haven't found Twitter as time consuming as I feared, Joanne. I just dip in and out now and then. It is a spooky pic isn't it :-) x

  14. You seem to have woken everyone up Teresa. I don't like August when everything shuts down. No writing class, no art class. Even the roads are spookily quiet. Come September I suspect we will be yearning for the peace and quiet of summer.

    1. We don't get much peace and quiet here in summer, Maggie! September will seem quiet I think x

  15. Everyone's on holiday, which feels very unfair when you're not. My excuse is that I've been finishing off my RNA's New Writer's Script and now that's gone, I feel as though I can breathe again. Just the kids and work to contend with now!

  17. Love the spooky Indy photo! I imagine lots of people will have been watching the Olympics, although some were away (cough, cough). We missed most of it so I enjoyed the BBC overview of our medal wins yesterday evening.

  20. It's been very quiet. But great to see all the comments here :0)

I'm still trying to get to grips with titter. I can't get my head around the fact I miss most of the posts because I'm following so many people.
