Young Fiction Writer of the Year

I’ve been reading some of the winning entries of this competition in December's Fiction Feast and – wow, I’ve had my socks knocked off.

I haven’t read them all yet, mainly because the last one I read was so powerful and moving that I wanted to savour it and let it sink in before I read more, but all those I have read have been stunning.

What a lot of talent there is out there.

Congratulations to all the winners and I am sure Anthony Horowitz is absolutely right when he says we could be hearing a lot more from some of these names in the future.

I certainly hope so.

    I haven't seen December's Fiction Feast as I didn't know it was out, so thanks, Teresa, I'll have to get it now and have a read.

    Young writers are amazing aren't they. I had a letter published in Writers' Forum about the great quality of their winning young writers in every issue of the mag. It's sickening though, isn't it! I am dead jealous of their talent!

    Mine came in the post today. I haven't read the winning stories yet, but I SOO wish I'd been on that judging panel with Anthony Horowitz. Lucky Norah.
    He's a bit of a hero of mine. I love his children's books (especially the scary ones), I love Foyle's War and I'm really looking forward to 'Collision' on TV next week. It had better be good - it's on every night Monday to Friday, I believe.

    All that lovely raw talent - I think it's wonderful. There is something so free and fresh about the writing. I don't think I've been so inspired for a long while.

    Me too Susan - I've set up the box to record Collision. Looks good doesn't it. And I love Foyle's War too.

    I've got December's FF but haven't had chance to read it yet. Looking forward to seeing what our future competition is like!

    I tried to get my son to enter the comp, but his stories tend to be a bit full of aliens, light sabres and orcs. Possibly not TAB material.
