Happy Writing

I am going to be absent from Blogland for a few days. I have my granddaughter coming to stay and want to make the most of every minute. But I may pop in when she has a nap!

I am also not allowing myself to write or even think about writing until at least next Wednesday (thanks for the tip Womag! I’ll let you know if it works for me).

I’ve set up comment moderation so I'll be able to keep on top of things and not miss anyone.

Also I just want to say how lovely everyone is. I was really worried about writing a blog – and every time I hit the “Post” button, I start to panic. It’s very different sending something off to an editor and letting them decide whether it is publishable or not and making that decision yourself.

Happy writing.

  1. Have a lovely time with your granddaughter, Teresa (I take it that's her in the pic). Enjoy every moment. And don't worry about the blog. As writers we are all somewhat isolated and reaching out to others in the same position is a great thing to do - you're helping the rest of us who are not so experienced (I'm speaking for myself - please don't get offended anyone!) and by sharing thoughts in this way we can "connect" as Forster so famously said! Enjoy being Grandma!

  3. Thank you, Lydia - I do appreciate your comments.

A different granddaughter to the one in the picture - but the same age (almost two)! I can't wait!

Don't be away too long, Teresa. Now that I've found you, I shall miss you. It's been lovely "getting to know you" although I feel I know you already from your stories.
I'm sure you'll have a lovely time with your granddaughter. I have two grandchildren now, age 2.5 and 4 weeks and they have transformed and lit up my life - and my writing! They are an endless source of inspiration and delight.

  6. Thanks Lacey!

Thanks, Paula - I'm off to pick her up in an hour. I'm enjoying your serial - I didn't wait to have all three parts before starting it in the end!

  7. Have a good break! I also find 'permission not to write' a good way of getting back into writing later if I'm struggling.

  8. Hope you enjoy your time with your granddaughter, Teresa, but hope it won't be too long before you are blogging again.
Your blog is great and it's so interesting to read everybody's thoughts.

I'm glad you're enjoying it, Teresa. Better not tell you who done it then!

  11. Enjoy your grandchildren, Teresa. You are lucky to have them! Eldest son is just not trying though it looks as if I might end up with two step-granddaughter twins. To be honest - and I hope no one takes this the wrong way - they are lovely but it is not like the real thing!

  13. Enjoy your granddaughter!

Oh my God I do hope you can get back to writing all right on Wednesday. I feel all responsible for your writing output now, having said setting a date to start again works for me.

  14. Just found your blog and wanted to say how I sympathise - I'm very new to blogging and found it quite scary at first knowing my posts were going 'out there' for all / anyone to read. As you say: a completely different feeling from that other scary one of submitting to editors! But everyone in Blogland seems to be so lovely and supportive.
Yours is great. And have a lovely break with the granddaughter.

  15. Thanks everyone for your lovely comments! Roxanna has fallen asleep on her grandad’s lap so I’m doing a bit of catching up.

Marian, I’ve found that grandchildren are like buses – you wait for ages for one to turn up then you suddenly find you’ve got six. This time five years ago I was about to find out the first one was on his way and now I’ve got four grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.

I’ve been catching up on some reading though – I really enjoyed your serial, Paula – and I hadn’t worked out whodunit.
