Today would have been my dad’s 92nd birthday.
This picture was taken in 1947 in Malta.
He had some lovely tattoos including a rosette with my name in it. He was a work of art, my dad.

What a lovely picture, Teresa. And very touching about the tattoo.
ReplyDeleteI'm still lucky enough to have my dad, though he's not as well as he was. We should never take them for granted, should we?
My dad was a sailor too. I love this picture, thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteLovely picture, Teresa. Handsome devil, wasn't he?!x
ReplyDeleteWhat a brilliant photo. He looks like a fantastic man.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your Dad's birthday with us. Sharing memories is a way we have of keeping our loved one close xx
ReplyDeleteI lost my dad when I was 18, Bernadette and there isn't a day goes by that I don't think about him and wish I hadn't taken him for granted.
ReplyDeleteI bet your dad was full of tales, Elizabeth, as sailors so often are.
Yes he was, Lydia!
Thank you, Helen. It is only as I've got older and read the letters he wrote to my mum that I've realised quite how special he was.
That's true isn't it, Sue. As long as someone lives in our memory they never really die.
Thanks for sharing, Teresa - lovely photo of your dad. And I do think photos are so precious for that reason - the memories they preserve. x
ReplyDeleteThanks, Olivia x

ReplyDeleteWhat a warm and affectionate post and wonderful photograph. Ever thought about participating in Sepia Saturday?
Thank you Martin.
ReplyDeleteI love your Sepia Saturdays.
Maybe I will post more of these old photos over time. You have given me food for thought.
What an extremely handsome man he was. Bless him. My dad would have been 104 now!
ReplyDeleteThank you Hydra. It's hard to imagine them being old isn't it.
