We took my two granddaughters-from-away
home yesterday and as always I felt sad to drop them off. The week passed so
quickly.
At 7 and 9, they’re a bit
past buckets and spades and just wanted to play in the sea. As with the week
before, the water was rough and I was worried, but they enjoyed it. Swimming in
the pool was much less nerve racking and they had a lot of fun in there.
I took them to Jimmy’s Farm
(somewhere I’ve been reluctant to visit as it’s a working farm and farms make
me sad for obvious reasons). My other grandchildren have told me it’s good and
they were right. The girls had a great time. There was plenty to do as well as being
able to feed some of the animals.

We decided to try Walton Pier
for a change from Clacton Pier. It’s more geared to younger children, but they had
fun on several rides (as did I), had a walk along the pier and played in the
arcade.
They spent Friday evening at
my daughter’s house with all their cousins while I went to see one of my
daughters in law playing Queenie in Blackadder. The drama group did three
episodes of Blackadder II and it was brilliant.
The house feels very quiet
today with just one granddaughter and one sleepy dog.
It looks like they had a great time! We just had a family barbecue and now it's just me, my partner and my eldest daughter here, and I agree it feels very quiet here too. Enjoy it, because it won't last!
ReplyDeleteWe were saying that the other day, they're growing up fast and will soon be off with their friends in the holidays.
DeleteWhat a great time you've had, Teresa - I'm sure they'll treasure these memories.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad they were here last week, Rosemary - this week so far has been a complete washout. If we have much more rain I'll have to change the car for a rowing boat!
DeleteSounds and looks like a fun week Teresa. Enjoy the quiet, I am sure it will not last too long! My middle daughter is moving house next week and her two little ones have spent a lot of time with me. It has been lovely but tiring. I am dog sitting next week for Tommy, my eldest daughter's Boston Terrier/French Bulldog puppy. I am sure there will be tales to tell! Oh and good to hear those familiar names, Clacton and Walton Pier, brings back happy memories of my childhood! X
ReplyDeleteLast week was very different - not such a happy week for various reasons. From today we have our usual four and they all have different ideas about what they want to do :-) Tommy sounds lovely, enjoy dog sitting xx
DeleteLooks like you've all had fun, and going on the pier seems to be great fun.
ReplyDeleteYou won't have time to get bored. ;)
That is true, Carol - never bored :-)
DeleteAnother lovely post and more fab photos Teresa. Thank you for sharing your lovely times with your grandchildren :-) xx
ReplyDeleteThank you for reading my waffles, Sue :-) xx
DeleteAnything but waffles Teresa. Memories :-) xx
DeleteAw thank you lovely Sue xx
ReplyDeleteWonderful to have the chance to spend time with all that energy and optimism!
ReplyDeleteI just wish I could borrow some of that energy!
