Gathering Thoughts

I just popped in to keep the blog going because I’ve seen what happens when neglected blogs get taken over and sometimes it ain’t pretty.

Tinks has settled in.

It took less than two weeks and it’s as if she’s always been here. The only downside is that she is an efficient hunter (maybe she had to fend for herself in the past – who knows?). Tinks now has an extra noisy bell on her collar. She’s a bit embarrassed I think, but it’s for the greater good.

Harley never catches anything. She chased a frog the other day, but didn’t attempt to catch him so I hid him away in the shade as he would have had no idea he was being followed by a pacifist cat so would have been terrified, poor thing.

Every afternoon I go for a walk before I pick the kids up from school. My walk often takes me through the cemetery. Yesterday I decided to sit for a while in the shade of a tree and gather my thoughts, but by the time I got to the school, my thoughts had scattered all over the place again.

  1. Aw so glad Tinks has settled in so well but yuk to her being a hunter. I remember the trauma when our cats used to bring in things - dead and alive. I know you're supposed to be EVER so grateful because they are bring you loving presents but I'm afraid I was anything but with the language to prove it!! :-) xx

    1. Same here, Sue :-) She caught a fly this morning and looked very slightly fed up, so perhaps the bell is working! xx

  2. We once had a cat with exactly the same markings as Tinks and he was a good hunter too. I wonder if there is a connection? Good to see he has settled well. I am a little worried about my neglected blog now after what you said. 🤔

    1. I often wonder about a connection, Maggie. Black cats I've known have always been laid back softies, tabbies very friendly, torties a bit naughty and ginger cats bold and intelligent - but all very lovely of course.

I've only seen a few blogs taken over and I don't know how they do it, so I'm going to touch base here now and then just to be on the safe side. I've already noticed I've been getting a lot of "odd" comments, which is why I've put comment moderation on (paranoid me?) :-)

    2. Hope you don't mind me tagging on this post Teresa, I just wanted to say, I wish you would restart your blog Maggie, I miss your posts.
If you do decide to blog again, please drop me a message over on my blog. :-) X

    4. That's very kind of you both. I get these brilliant ideas and then don't see them through. It's been so long I'm not sure I can get into it again. If I can I'll try and do the occasional post.

  3. Hey Teresa,

I Tinks it's good that Tinks has settled in! :) Seems like you had to um ring in the changes with Tinks.

Those photos were quite the undertaking, methinks.

I've heard that neglected blogs need a bit of dusting. I dusted your blog before you got here! LOL

Enjoy your Sunday, my lovely friend.

    Gary :) x

    1. I tinks you are right. She's a proper Tinkerbell now and she Tinkerbells round the house at night making not so beautiful music, but it's worth it to save the little feathered ones.

I often undertake photos in the cemetery :-)

Thank you for dusting the blog for me, I thought it looked a bit more shiny :-)

Happy Sunday to you, Gary :-) x

  4. Bob once presented me with an entire family of rats... I ne night for each. That was many years ago. Now he'd be lucky to catch his tail!

    1. Ew, I bet you're glad he doesn't bother now. I hope Tinks doesn't bring anything furry home. My first cat used to bring home a lot of mice, often unharmed. He used to be disgusted with me when I set them free.

  5. Teresa I need to get back into the habit of walking, like you I find it is something I can do to gather my thoughts. Something I have neglected to keep up and I too feel like my thoughts are everywhere and nowhere! I have gone from somewhat organised to totally disorganised. It's time to pull it in and get back to best practice which is definitely spending some time with myself.

Otherwise, I feel as if I am just on a treadmill from one week until the next, and that can't be good for you can it?

    Thank you for sharing.

    1. Life does feel like a treadmill at times doesn't it. I hope you can get back into the habit of walking. I'm having a break today - just walked Dusty, but no extra.

  6. Glad Tinks has settled in well- despite the hunting.

Like the description of Harley as a pacifist cat too. :-)

  7. She really is, Carol - I have never known such an inoffensive cat. When a baby pigeon fell out of the tree, she went and sat next to it, but didn't attempt to catch it :-)
