Reading!

I love Call the Midwife on television and I enjoyed the book very much too. In fact I found it very difficult to put down.

Some time ago I read In the Midst of Life by Jennifer Worth and I intend to treat myself to her other two books, Shadows of the Workhouse and Farewell to the East End.

At the moment I’m reading My Future Husband by Karen Clarke – it's a lovely, fun read!

This week I took Indy for his check up and – I hardly dare breathe this – I don’t have to take him back for three months as long as he continues to do well and doesn’t start to lose weight again. The worst part of all this is his blindness. He has to stay on an extending lead now on our walks because he gets worried off the lead.

But he’s sleeping through the night which is a huge plus, especially as some nights I had to carry him up and down the stairs. It must be better for him if he can have a good night’s sleep. And he enjoys playing with his treat ball – I save some of his kibble to put in that.

I know he’s nearly thirteen, but I still look at him and see a puppy. He has never really grown up and he still has his naughty moments – I am very glad to say!

  2. Really pleased about Indy - that's very good news. I had same with Bobby. We don't have to take him back as he's put on a bit of weight but must carry on feeding him extra (though we don't know why he suddenly needs it).

    1. Thanks, Wendy. It's very odd about Bobby isn't it, but as long as the extra food is working, that's the main thing :-) x

    1. Thanks, Caroline. I was so amazed - I was hoping he'd say we wouldn't have to go back for a month and when he said three - well I was over the moon :-) Me too with the blubbing - but isn't it lovely to be so involved with something that it makes you cry :-) x

    1. Thank you - I must say I'm enjoying not having to get up in the middle of the night too - or wander round the garden in my bare feet because he's found something interesting to sniff in the bushes and won't come in and I've forgotten to put my slippers on ;-) x

  10. Hi Teresa,

I will admit I quite enjoy the show, "Call the Midwife". Luckily, after my ultrasound revealed I wasn't pregnant, I wont be needing one:)

Bless Indy and I'm heartened that I'm reading some hopeful news about him. We both know how much our beloved furry friends, cherished family members, mean to us. Penny and I send our love and warm wishes for the weekend.

    Gary :) x

    1. Well, Gary, at first you had to watch just in case you had a baby on the way, so you'd know what to expect and when to puff and pant and boil the water! I'm very glad you aren't expecting :-)

Thank you and Penny for your kind wishes - hope you have a peaceful weekend x

  11. It's heartwarming to hear how well things are going for Indy.To be able to maintain his weight and sleep well at night, as well as to still enjoy walking and playing, means he he must be feeling good. And it's all because of the love and good care he receives from you. He is truly blessed and I feel very happy for you all.

I love Call The Midwife too and am so pleased that my husband and youngest daughter watch it too. I think they did it to please me at first, but now they are just as excited about it as I am! x

  12. Brilliant news about Indy, Teresa. So pleased for you and him. Our furry bundles know when they are loved and cared for and we are trying to help and I'm sure Indy has responded so well because of your devoted care.
I adore Call the Midwife. What a brilliant programme, all the more so for being based on true stories I think. (I record it to watch because my husband isn't keen!!)
I must add Karen's book to my, also, huge reading list! :o) xx
