If you pop over to I Should be Writing, Lynne Hackles is running a competition to win one of
her books and you get to choose, Ghostwriting – how to write for others, or
Writing from Life. They’re both great books – I know because I’ve got them.
It’s a little bit saucy too
and…
Hey wait! Come back, don’t go
yet!
Beloved is decorating the
front room and I’ve been sorting out cupboards and bookcases. I am getting rid
of – gulp – four or five dozen books. Actually I went through the piles and
sneaked some back on the shelves, but don’t tell anyone.
I’m getting rid of all my
Harry Potter’s. Much as I loved them, I can’t see I’ll ever read them again and
my grandchildren all have their own copies. I'm also getting rid of some of my books from various
courses I’ve done and my little travel books.
Some writing books have gone
too.
We’ve had more downs than ups
with Indy, but he has been quite perky today and enjoyed the snow. He got those
ice balls stuck to his legs, so I filled a bowl with warm water and soaked them
off when we got home. It seems to be the best way to get rid of them. His sight
is very poor now and ball games are difficult, so we went down the lane where
we never play ball and he was quite happy to sniff and potter.
And smile for the camera - he is smiling , honest!
Don’t forget to visit Lynne
and enter the competition!
Sounds like you've been busy! Well done on getting rid of some of your books. We got a charity bag for the Salvation Army pushed through the letterbox today, so I am going to fill it!
ReplyDeleteHave a good weekend. ;-)
Those charity bags come in very handy don't they, Maria. Hope you have a good weekend too :-) x
DeleteIndy looks so smart in his little coat. Don't tell him I said so!! Good for you having a sort out. Threatened snow not here yet so fingers crossed won't be as bad as forecast! :o) xx
ReplyDeleteYou must be about the only place left without snow, Sue! He does like wearing his little coat, bless him :-) x
DeleteHarvey will be most envious when he sees that coat. We are so glad Indy was able to enjoy the snow.
ReplyDeleteI got rid of a couple of bagfuls of books recently, but then there were several more books in the Oxfam bookshop that I couldn't resist. I am still no better off for space!
It often happens like that, Joanna! Those bookshelves in the charity shops are very tempting :-) x
DeleteI wish I could let some books go. And my youngest daughter's bedroom is jam-packed with books that belonged to all three girls, plus the teetering towers of books she has amassed herself. We just can't seem to get down to the task of sorting through them. And the oldest ones that are falling apart at the seams are the hardest to say goodbye to.
ReplyDeleteHow lovely to see Indy having fun in the snow. Our Mini Sheltand is hardly visible in it. And Holly the kitten is most intrigued, if a little miffed at the cold and damp on her tiny white paws. x
Those falling apart books are the ones we read most aren't they, Joanna, so definitely ones to keep! I woke up in a cold sweat in the middle of the night wondering if I should maybe return a few of the books to my shelves, but I have to be strong!
DeleteOh I bet your little Shetland looks sweet in the snow. And those tiny paws of Holly's must feel very cold, but at the same time snow is such fun for a kitten :-) x
Bonnie loves the snow - more than me if I'm honest. I had a cull of my books recently too. I've been ruthless and only kept ones I really love.
ReplyDeleteIt's funny how dogs and often cats don't seem to mind the snow at all isn't it. You'd think their little feet would get cold and they'd hate it!
DeleteI'm glad I've got rid of some of the books, not just to make space for others, but because I know if I live to be 100 I probably wouldn't read them again. I must admit I keep very few of the books I read and those I've kept are mainly from years ago :-) x
That's extremely brave of you, Teresa. I regularly sort out books for the charity shops - but those little piles look back accusingly at me for deserting them and I get all guilty and end up putting them all back again.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean, Gail. Every time I go downstairs I have to pass the piles of books that are going and a couple of times I've rescued some :-) x
DeleteIndy looks like he's ready to do something rather than hang about posing. The smile looks like the patient 'now what's she doing?' type.
ReplyDeleteI think you're right, Patsy :-) x
ReplyDeleteGreetings human, Teresa,
ReplyDeleteI shall duly check out your links. Indy is looking like he's ready for some snow ploughing type action. May you all stay warm during these snowy times.
And please tell Indy he would be a welcome addition to my 'Pawliamentary' cabinet! :)
Pawsitive wishes, Penny the Jack Russell dog and next 'Paw Minister' of Britain! :) x
Indy would be honoured to be in your Pawlimentary cabinet, Penny :-) x
DeleteI once cleared a couple of shelves of books I thought I would never read again. You now what? I'm still missing them! x
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean, Rena. When I was sorting out, I decided I would get rid of a particular set of books only to find I already had - and I felt really sad and wished I hadn't! x
DeleteAwwww hugs hugs hugs to sweet Indy!!! Of course he is smiling! He is loved and cared for and enjoying the snow!! Yes he is!
ReplyDeleteAll the best de-cluttering!!! Take care
x
Thank you, Kitty :-) x
DeleteOh, that was brave getting rid of some books, Teresa. I'm supposed to be making a start on my overloaded shelves and so far I've only stood and looked at them wondering where to start! Indy looks cute in his little coat.
ReplyDeleteInstead of getting rid of books, perhaps we should get more bookshelves :-) x
DeleteIndy looks so cute. I hate getting rid of books, every now and then I go through mine with a view to de-cluttering, then I put them all back again, so well done.
ReplyDeleteIt feel so wrong to get rid of books doesn't it - like saying goodbye to friends x
DeleteLovely pics of Indy. So nice to see him looking happy. My Dylan used to hate it when I stopped the walk to take pictures but they are precious now. Have as much fun in the snow as is possible. Hugs and love to Indy. x
ReplyDeleteThank you, Lydia - you must still feel so raw about Dylan. Hugs to you xx
DeleteIndy looks very warm in that coat. I struggle to throw books away, but can throw away the ones I know I won't read again. Throwing away means going to the charity shop of course!!
ReplyDeleteI know you would never throw away books, Maggie :-) x
DeleteHe's just too cute for his own good Teresa.xxxx
ReplyDeleteAw thank you, he is :-) x
DeleteAll the best with decluttering Teresa! It is the hardest job.
ReplyDeleteLove to Indy!
Nas
Thank you, Nas :-) x
DeleteOh lovely Indy, he looks very happy and playful, I am sure he is crazy about his mom. They really need us at this age :(.
ReplyDeleteThey do need us, Petronela - and we need them, our lovely companions x
DeleteIt's so hard to throw out good books. I had to do it when we moved out here too. I sneakliy left a large box of ones I just couldn't throw in my sons garage! I expect they'll just go moldy! Ah well...
ReplyDeleteI'll nip over to Lynne's site asap. Enjoy the snow!!
I hope they don't go mouldy, Pat! x
DeleteIndy looks so lovely in his coat. Those snowballs are a pain to get off their fur, Grumps hates having them, but we only had two days of snow here so didn't have to bother with them for too long.
ReplyDeleteWell done for the book decluttering, I'm hopeless at it!
Poor little Grumps - they must be so uncomfortable. I used to cut them off our dog Sweep, but with Indy I soak them off with tepid water and they come off quite easily. We still have some snow left here :-( x
DeleteLovely photos :o) Molly really enjoys the snow and reverts to puppyish behaviour.
ReplyDeleteI had a go at the competition and enjoyed it a bit too much!
Aw, lovely Molly :-) It's a fun competition isn't it :-) x
